Flora: A Different Dialect

While we look up, the flora reaches up alongside us, speaking a completely different dialect of this conscious language. Flowers abandon the safety of earth tones. They rise above the soil, surrounded by lush greenery, and burst into "happier," vibrant colors.

Notice the unapologetic, radiating pinks and deep purples of the lily. Observe the intricate, joyful clusters of pink and yellow yarrow, or the vast, reaching fields of delicate white and yellow blooms. Their vivid colors are born of a different kind of interaction—an upward striving toward light and an outward expression of intellectual value within the natural world.

The Language of Consciousness: From Earthly Tones to the Cosmic Canvas

When we observe the natural world, a profound visual hierarchy begins to reveal itself. In the studio, mixing raw pigments and mapping out ideas, I am constantly reminded that color is not merely a visual phenomenon. Rather, color is the very expression—the spoken language—of consciousness itself.

Let’s take a journey of thinking together, moving from the ground beneath our feet, through our own human experience, and up into the infinite dark above.

The Grounded Language of the Animal Kingdom

Look closely at the animal kingdom. Animals form deep family bonds, engage in complex social interactions, and share profoundly in this collective group of consciousness. Yet, their specific expression of this language is spoken in the tones of the earth.

They wear the browns, ochres, and muted greys of the terrain. You can see this grounded connection in the resting fallow deer blending into the brush, the majestic lion anchored within the heavy stone, and the patterned coats of the giraffes and Zibra's. Even the swan gliding through the reflective waters, and the herd wading peacefully, share a harmonious, earthy palette. Their colors are an expression of belonging to the physical plane, a conscious language of moving with and blending into the raw realities of existence.

The Cosmic Laboratory: What Lies in the Between?

If color is the language of consciousness, and interactions dictate its expression, what is the cosmos saying?

When we look up, past our immediate world, we see black. Yet, that perceived darkness is an illusion. The cosmos is the ultimate source of our light, delivering both the brilliance of our days and the profound depths of our nights. Space is not an empty void; it is the ultimate laboratory of existence.

If the cosmos is filled with interactions, what is engaging up there in the universe to cultivate consciousness? Consider the planets. Why are they suspended at such specific, deliberate distances from one another? These spatial relationships are not random. They are precise, gravitational interactions—the architecture of a much larger thought process. The specific distances between planetary bodies create the exact conditions necessary for light, time, and matter to interact, ultimately allowing consciousness to bloom here on earth.

Art is the place where science and consciousness bring us closer to this grand design. The next time you look at the night sky, do not just see the black. See the profound, invisible interactions holding it all together, speaking a language we are only just beginning to translate.

The Human Mirror: Grounded Bodies, Reaching Minds

This brings us to a fascinating mirror: ourselves. As humans, we share this same group of consciousness and are also dressed in the beautiful, varied earth tones of our skin. We walk grounded on the exact same soil as the animals.

Yet, our Creator introduced a subtle complexity to our design. We were given different windows through which to view this existence—some of us have deep, dark eyes that absorb the light, while others have colored eyes that reflect it. We are physically tethered to the earth, but we have been gifted with an extraordinary, abstract capacity. We possess the ability to see and yearn for distances far beyond our spoons, our food tables, and our immediate survival. We are grounded in earth tones, but our minds are designed to look up.
